Warwick City Band
The Warwick City Band, established in 1866, is a cornerstone of the Warwick community and will celebrate 160 years of continuous service in 2026. Throughout its long history, the band has been a regular feature at civic events, commemorations and community celebrations, bringing people together through live music and contributing to the cultural life of the region.
The band includes members from primary school age through to older adults, with people from all walks of life forming a truly multigenerational ensemble. “Begin again” musicians returning to their instruments after time away are part of the group, alongside family groups who enjoy making music together, strengthening its strong community connections. The band continues to support and develop players by fostering ensemble skills, confidence and a shared love of music.
In 2020, the band transitioned from a traditional brass band to a concert band format. This change allowed for a broader range of instruments and made it easier for new musicians to join, helping to revitalise membership while maintaining the band’s musical traditions. With the addition of woodwind instruments also came the ability to expand the band’s repertoire to include more jazz, blues and swing-style music.
Today, the Warwick City Band remains a vibrant, community-focused ensemble and loves to perform at a wide range of community events, including Jumpers and Jazz in July. The band has been performing at the Grand Automobile Display for several years and is very excited to be invited to play at the “Grand Finale Jazz Lounge” at Warwick Town Hall on Sunday, July 26.
With a proud history behind it, the band looks ahead, continuing to grow and inspire future generations through music, service and community connection.
